How to get to Rome city from Fiumicino Airport? If you land at Fiumicino (FCO) airport in Rome, there are several options of transport to get to Rome city (Termini station) and I will specify them all in this blog post 🙂

Transport options from Fiumicino Airport to Rome City:

Leonardo Express train

Leonardo Express is a fast train that goes directly to Rome’s Termini train station. The train departs every half hour and takes half an hour to go. It costs 14 Euro / person / itinerary. I chose to go with this transportation Leonardo Express train due to I could bring my dog  Stella for free. It went very quickly and smoothly and it was worth the money even though this option is more expensive than the others.

You can also go with the metro’s gray line FL1, which costs 8 Euro / person / itinerary and dogs can go with you for free. However, it doesn’t stop at the Termini station. So check out where it will be closest to you to go. It stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina, among other places. Dogs are allowed to go with you in the metro everywhere in Rome for free.

Terravision Bus

This bus goes directly to Termini station in Rome city and takes 55 minutes. It costs 5 Euro / person / itinerary or 9 Euro for a return ticket. On the Terravision bus you are not allowed to bring a dog.

This bus goes through the Vatican before reaching Termini station. It costs 6 Euro / person / itinerary but then takes a little longer than the others. You are not allowed to bring a dog.

TAM Airport Bus

Tam bus goes to Termini station via Ostiense station. It costs 6 Euro / person / itinerary plus 9 Euro extra round trip if you want to bring a dog. This bus costs a little more than the Terravision Bus but it is the only bus that runs 24 hours a day to and from Fiumicino Airport in Rome. Hotel Shuttle Service

If you find another person or couple who also wants to share a shuttle bus then it is advisable to recommend Fiumicino’s Hotel shuttle service which costs from 16.33 Euro / person if you want to get away cheaper than taxi.

Taxi

Getting a taxi from Fiumicino Airport in Rome to central Rome costs 48 Euro as a fixed price. It takes about 45 minutes by taxi. If you decide to take a taxi, I recommend paying with cash. Take out so you have different values in Euro so it is easy to pay. This taxi that you should take, also has stickers with a sign of 48 Euro on the car doors, so you won’t be fooled by any other taxi.

  1. Jag använde Uber en hel del när jag var i Rom, fungerade väldigt bra, undvek problem med språk och betalning. 🙂
