Desert Safari in Abu Dhabi

Whether you are going to Abu Dhabi for the first time or not, I recommend spending a day out in the desert among delicious sand dunes and wonderfully sweet camels. Since Abu Dhabi is very close to Dubai, it doesn’t really matter if you leave from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, you end up in the same desert anyway 🙂

If there is something I can do several times without getting tired of it, it is to go out in the desert. When I lived in Doha, Qatar (which you can read more about here), I went out with friends to the desert very often when I had a day off. It is so different from Sweden, it is fun and atmospheric, there are camels to clap and for those who are a little more adventurous of themselves can also go quad biking in the desert. Yes you heard right and believe me, it is actually among the most fun I have done! 🙂

Camels are really one of my favorite animals! I think it’s a cool animal that I got a little extra love for after my years that I lived in the Middle East 😉

Barbecue in the desert

In the evening there is usually barbecue time with arabic dance and you can get a henna tattoo on the body or borrow clothes so you look like a real male or female Arab.

There are many different companies that arrange excursions to the desert and they usually cost about the same no matter who you choose to go with. I hope you got inspired now to go to the desert one day in Abu Dhabi, because it is truly an experience! 🙂
